Labor Day in Park City has always been celebrated at Miner’s Day in Park City. Miners’ Day is a daylong celebration of Park City’s mining heritage, welcoming locals and visitors to our community.Miners’ Day events are held in two locations: Park City’s Historic Main Street and our beautiful City Park.
The fun and funky Miner’s Day parade historic Main Street attracts marching bands and community floats as Park City celebrates its mining heritage. Reserve a spot on the curb with the kids and be ready for the fun. The parade begins around 11:00 a.m., just after the annual Running of the Balls down Main Street. The parade route runs the length of Main Street, before skipping over to Park Avenue and on down to City Park.
Running of the Balls you say? The Miners’ Day Running of the Balls is patterned after the fabled Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain, the Miners’ Day event is a little safer with yellow golf balls replacing the bulls. Buy a “Ball” and enjoy the fun… it’s for a great cause!
What is the mucking and drilling event? One of the highlights of the annual Miner’s Day celebration is the Mucking and Drilling competition. Competitors come from around the mountain west to compete in timed events that simulate the demanding work done in Park City’s silver mines.
